Our aim is to provide the foundation and
springboard from which the Kopeyia School community will make
great things happen on its own.
The Ghana Education Service supervises the
standard Ghanaian national school curriculum, which includes
valuable courses in Math, Science, Agricultural Science, Life
Skills, and Vocational Skills, etc. KGSF has instituted
much higher standards for excellent attendance for both teachers
and students, and for lower class sizes. The school
is well maintained and freshly painted, providing an atmosphere
conducive to learning.
KGSF has collaborated effectively with this vibrant and growing
school community in Kopeyia through the work of our Emissary
Volunteers. These volunteers lead discussions about
how students can use what they learn to bring positive developments
to life in the village.
The Girls Club was established by KGSF volunteer
Carolyne Ali Khan in 1994. "The Girls Club Educates"
is their motto. The girls (more than 50) meet after
school once a week to study health and nutrition issues. Club
members present these important lessons to every class in
the school, and create posters as reminders. This program
has been an effective way to share vital health information
school wide, and has given the girls a greater appreciation
for the value of their education.
The Ann M. Martin library is the centerpiece
of the school! It is loaded with reference materials,
and books on all reading levels. It is well-used by
our students, and visited by readers from the entire district.
